One day trip to Ottawa!

My Cégep journey started off with a great adventure, a visit to our wonderful country's capital, Ottawa! As part of the interdisciplinary week, us social science students had the chance to visit some of Canada's most important places, such as the Parliament, the Supreme Court and Canada's war museum.

All landmarks were extremely captivating, but my personal favourite was the Parliament. In the Parliament, we had the amazing chance to assist a meeting in the House of Commons, something I can usually just see on television. Seeing the people who represent my country in action, in real life, made me extremely proud. Our group was also able to tour the Supreme Court with privileged access to certain areas. It was crazy to think that some of Canada's most famous hearings happened right there!

I was happy to hear that we also had a couple hours of free time given to us, around lunch. My friends and I decided to go have Chipotle for lunch, a Mexican food chain that we aren't so lucky not to have in Quebec.

Throughout this field trip, I made great memories, learned fascinating things and met some new amazing people.

Here is a text extract in French from my reflexion assignment on how social science interdisciplinaty demonstrated itself during this particular filed trip:

3 day trip to New York City with school to visit the UN Headquarters!

A 3 day trip to New York City in early November was proposed to us by Marcello and other social sciences teachers. Going someone with so many new friends will be something I'll never forget. The main goal of this getaway was to visit the United Nations HQ, but during our free time we took advantage to roam the city. Our days were spend eating, walking, exploring, and of course, shopping.

Cours-Voyage in Europe

In January 2024, I embarked on a two-week educational journey across Europe, blending academics with adventure. This unique experience encompassed classes in philosophy, hiking, and filmmaking, each integrated seamlessly into our travels. Our hikes took us to breathtaking locations, including Punta Campanella on the Amalfi Coast, the famous Mount Vesuvius, and trails near Budapest. These treks provided not only physical challenges but also rich contexts for philosophical reflection and creative inspiration for our filmmaking projects. Our itinerary included visits to culturally and historically rich cities such as Sorrento, Naples, Rome, Vienna, Bratislava, and Budapest. Each city had something special to offer, from the ancient ruins and lively streets of Rome to the grand architecture of Vienna and the cozy charm of Bratislava. Through this immersive program, I was able to deepen my understanding of philosophical concepts, capture the essence of our journey through film, and appreciate the profound beauty of Europe's landscapes and cultures.

PI trip to Guatemala

I went to Guatemala as part of my PI on cultural tourism and honestly it was an experience that felt both intense and random in the best way. During this, I did a lot of walking around Antigua and the villages around Lake Atitlán, always trying to soak up what was happening around me whether I was in a chaotic market, crammed on a lancha with locals heading home, or sitting with artisans as they wove with colors I don’t even know how to describe. I got to taste chocolate in a little women’s coop, mess up my Spanish chatting with vendors, climb up steep hills for sunrise views, and just watch daily life happen all around me. The best moments weren’t planned—they were things like someone inviting me for coffee, a street performer making a whole crowd laugh, or sharing a meal with people I’d barely met a few hours earlier. I felt lucky to talk to guides, teachers, and craftswomen and actually hear what they thought about tourism, not just what tourists usually assume. By the end of the trip, I had tried every local food anyone dared me to, filled a notebook with stories and observations, and got a real sense of how complicated and welcoming Guatemala can be if you take the time to look past the usual tourist stuff.
